A taste of home for Saskatoon's South Asian community

Saskatoon's Bangladeshi, Indian & Pakistani grocery store

Our story

Built for the neighbourhood

Swadesh Supermarket opened to give Saskatoon's Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani community a real taste of home on the west side. Before we opened our doors, families drove across the city — or across provinces — to find the rice, fish and spices they grew up with. We changed that.

We're family run and community focused, and we've grown alongside the neighbourhood as a trusted stop for Saskatoon's Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani families. Our staff take the time to explain unfamiliar items to customers who are trying something new for the first time.

You'll find us serving the 22nd Street and Kensington area of west Saskatoon — a trusted stop for newcomers settling in and for long time residents who have been shopping with us for years.
